Founded in 2011 with just 25 hand-crafted pieces, Tari by Gayatri has grown into a conscious, home-grown boutique in Sydney dedicated to handloom in all its glory. We are a haven for lovers of authentic Kanjivaram, Georgettes, Organza, and Hand-Embroidered sari treasures. Working closely with our small team of generational weavers and artists, every single saree is designed from scratch—making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind creation that honours the rich heritage of the region.

MARUTHY'S EXPERIENCE

 

When I was a child, my favourite movie was Appah and Ammah’s kalyanam. Naturally, I would ask Ammah about her wedding sarees; unfortunately they were left behind when we were displaced, and Ammah chose to bring along a soft cotton saree for me to sleep on instead (I was 6 months old). Fast forward over two decades, and I now have two intricately designed, vibrant coloured, kanjivarum sarees by Gayatri aunty (Tari by Gayatri). These wedding sarees hold so many memories, from going through Tari by Gayatri’s boutique selection of sarees with Ammah, the nervousness whilst my then fiancé picked out my koorai saree, and all the sentimental value these sarees hold from my wedding day – I am so grateful.
